Located on the South-Western slope of Nigeria, Lagos is a coastal city with a population of over 21 million people. It is the metropolitan capital of the nation and the place where dreams go to happen — or to die. Being a coastal city in the tropics, the weather in Lagos is as hot and humid as you can imagine -sometimes unbearably so. With temperatures averaging 27°C, average humidity of 80% and annual rainfall of approximately 14mm and 312mm in the driest and wettest months respectively, the weather in Lagos is not for the faint of heart; however, if you are a sunchaser, get ready for the best tan of your life.

Upon touching down in Lagos Murtala Muhammed airport (LOS), you are immediately enveloped in the warm watery arms of an overeager lover who stays with you for the rest of your time in the city. Followed closely by this humidity is a fine layer of dust, at least 1CM thick, which has settled on everything you can see for miles (In Nigeria, the unit of measuring distance is Kilometres). The dust coats everything and makes it brown. Newly painted buildings are slightly tinted brown. Other public structures are distinctly coated with dust. The murals and other art pieces adorning the city are all covered in dust, obstructing a clear view. I am by no means a germophone, yet I had an overwhelming urge to constantly…
